Meredith's aunt and grandmother hosted a fabulous Bridesmaids' Luncheon on Friday morning at the Swan Coach House. It was so good to visit with the bride before her big day! We had a wonderful lunch on chicken salad, fruit, cheese straws, muffins, and key lime pie. Our gifts from Meredith were so unique-she gave each one of us a different piece of hand-painted pottery. I wanted everyone's! Maggie also presented Meredith with a book of pictures and messages from all of us girls. We wanted her to have a book to look through when she moves to St. Simons Island. After the luncheon, we went to get our nails and toes done. We had such a fun day!
Later that afternoon, us girls headed to the rehearsal at Meredith's church. We made it just in time-we thought we had left early enough, but you know Friday traffic in Atlanta! Being from a smaller city, her church, Smoke Rise Baptist Church, was huge, but very beautiful! Her mom and sister worked so hard making our ribbon bouquets! Each one of us tried to match our bouquet to our outfits.
After the rehearsal, all of the bridal party met our spouses at the Druid Hills Country Club for the rehearsal dinner hosted by Johnathan's parents. These wonderful ham biscuits and chicken fingers were served as appetizers before a meal of chicken, beef, roasted potatoes, and vegetables. Meredith worked so hard on a slideshow showing her and Johnathan's lives. Then, came the speeches! I enjoyed hearing funny stories from each other their college years.
After the rehearsal dinner, some of us headed to East Andrews, and we found out about a "secret bar" called Prohibition. It was a neat little cigar bar that one has to have a secret phone number to get into.
On Saturday, Maggie invited all of the girls over to get ready at her Baboo's condo. Kim and I got our makeup done and came back to snack and get our hair done by Maggie! She is better than anyone we could have hired! Us bridesmaids worked so quickly to get ready so we could get to the church early (because usually we run a little late). We were surprised with ourselves when we got to the church 30 minutes early!
Meredith arrived, and we all got dressed. She looked absolutely beautiful! Then, we had some pictures taken with the wonderful Vue Photography girls. Love them! I cannot wait to see their photos! After we took pictures and rested for awhile, it was showtime! The ceremony was so sweet and special, and Meredith's sister Lauren sang a beautiful solo.
After the ceremony and a few more pictures, us bridesmaids headed to the reception at the Druid Hills Country Club for fun, food, drinks, and dancing! The bridal party took a few more pictures with the newlyweds, and then we were introduced to the crowd. I was so excited to see my hubby! I love going to weddings because we are always reminded how much we love each other and how much fun we had on our wedding day!
The food was amazing, as I knew it would be! There were the best grilled cheeses I have ever put in my mouth, a bit size salad with cranberries and goat cheese, shrimp and grits, and mashed potatoes to name a few things.
Meredith chose beautiful blue and purple flowers with lots of hydrangeas. As long as I can remember, this is what Meredith said she would have at her wedding!
Meredith and Johnathan's cakes were both beautiful. They were both huge, and some of the best cake ever!
Dancing music was provided by the fabulous Grapevine! They have no problem getting everyone on the dance floor! We always know we will have a good time when we know they are playing! They even presented Meredith and Johnathan with a tambourine to shake all the troubles away!
Renee and Joe caught the bouquet and garter. Wonder if they will be next like the legend says?!?!
Meredith and Johnathan left to their guests throwing rose petals and shaking red and black pom poms! They provided guest with Dunkin Donuts' Munchkins and a personalized cookie. I didn't get any of the Munchkins, but the cookie made up for it!
Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, I hope y'all are having a fabulous time in Costa Rica!!
