Whirlwind Long Weekend

Last Wednesday, Davis and I left for a short trip to West Palm Beach, Florida! He had an American Health Care Convention at the Ritz Carlton Palm Beach, and I am so glad I got to join him! We arrived at the hotel around lunch and immediately hit the pool! The weather was perfect! Here are some pictures of the courtyard pool and lobby of the hotel.

That night, we attended a dinner by the pool. We were treated to mahi mahi and steak tacos, ahi tuna burgers topped with seaweed salad, among many other tasty things! I have never had such unique food at a meeting! Davis and I crashed pretty early since we had been up since we had been up since about 4:30 a.m.!

The next day, a couple of wives and I headed down to Worth Avenue to engage in some shopping! There were lots of stores that I could not afford a thing in, but it was fun to look! We all ate a lobster salad sandwich at an outside Italian bistro called Pizza al Fresco.
This guy's girlfriend is going to be really happy when he gets home. He was shopping for some Louboutins too!
Before heading back to our hotel, we stopped by the Breakers, a hotel built in the early 1900's. It was absolutely beautiful! I can't wait for our convention there next year!
Check out these beautiful ceilings!

On the way back to our hotel, I made sure to take some pictures of the gorgeous houses (In West Palm Beach, these are called houses, not mansions are exactly what these are!

That night, the convention staff provided us with a shuttle to dinner at the Flagler Museum. We were provided with some info about the island on the way to the museum, and about the only thing I got from the whole tour was that houses is Hollywood are chump change compared to the ones in West Palm Beach. One just sold for $92 million!!

As we were looking around the museum, we found out that the house is decorated in all kinds of styles, and no two rooms in the entire house are decorated in the same style. Certainly not my taste, but I'm sure it was top of the line in Mrs. Flagler's day! The house was located right on the water overlooking West Palm Beach, and it happened to be a gorgeous night!
The ceilings in the museum were the best parts of the house!
Yes, they had their own organ in their music room!
And a grand ballroom!
View from the backyard.
This is where we had dinner. The Flagler is a great place for a wedding reception!
After Davis's meetings Friday morning, it was off to the airport to travel home, unfortunately! If I hadn't been hosting a bridal shower at my house the next morning, we would have stayed until Sunday!

Once we were back home, I threw together a breakfast casserole and headed over to the Mr. Relay Pageant at the annual Relay for Life Event which is a beauty pageant for men dressed as women. I have had the honor of being co-chair of the Jr. League's Provisional Class. They have worked so hard to pull this event together, and they ended up raising over $2200!! I am so proud of all of their hard work!
Shena Pippin, the Provisional Chair, and I got to be judges for the evening along with Albany's DA.

On Saturday morning, some friends and I hosted a bridal shower for Meghan Gettis! It turned out really nice, and she got some really great gifts!

That night, Betsy hosted a mexican fiesta/lingerie shower for Meghan! Andy is going to love all of the gifts she got that night!

I thought Sunday was going to be my day of relaxation, get some sun, and finish my book, the Lincoln Lawyer after a crazy few days. (On a side note, this is a must read!). I did get some relaxation and book reading in, after a little craziness. Our little Stella was out in the yard playing until a copperhead bit her in the face! Poor baby! I rushed her to the vet, and she is back to new! Here is my little Public Service Announcement-get your dogs the rattlesnake vaccine!! I think the vaccine helped her fight the sickness so quickly!
Poor thing's nose was already swollen up before we got to the vet!
Watch out for this kind of snake!!
Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

  1. OMG! Poor Stella. I hope Davis cropped the head off that awful copperhead.
