Events started Thursday night, with the local Sertoma Club's annual truck raffle. Needless to say, we did not win the truck, but it was a fun evening with friends.
Friday night, we attended A Wild Affair to benefit the Flint Riverquarium at Blue Springs Plantation. I wish I had taken more pictures because the setting was absolutely beautiful! Drinks were served in the courtyard overlooking the old plantation house. I have to share the recipe for the signature drink-the Arrowhead-lemonade, cranberry juice, and vodka topped with a sprig of mint. It was very tasty. Our buffet dinner consisted of hush puppies, caesar salad with crawfish, jambalaya, fried catfish, edamame salad, and Asian coleslaw served on the cutest bamboo plates with bamboo silverware. Again, I should have taken pictures of the tables, all under huge oak trees where lights and lanterns hung. It was truly beautiful!
So sad this was the only picture I took that night!
We woke up Saturday to head to the lake to get ready for Katie Hughey's wedding! I was so sad to see that it was pouring down rain, so I had to say a little prayer for Katie and her wedding since everything was supposed to be outside! I have to say my prayers, along with many others I am sure, worked! The rain held off during the wedding and reception!
The scenery at Thronoteeska Bluffs Plantation was absolutely breathtaking! The ceremony was in front of the beautiful plantation house, and reception overlooked the Flint River.
Food was provided by Leon Gatewood of Cousin's Catering (the same company that did Maggie's wedding). There was so much good food, but the plates weren't big enough to get everything in on walk through. I missed some of the awesome food, but everything I had was wonderful! The menu included grilled cheeses and tomato basil soup, shrimp and grits, curried chicken, sesame tuna, and much much more! The wedding and groom cakes definitely fit the setting too! Crisp's cake featured shotgun shells and turkey feathers, and Katie's cake sat on a moss covered pedestal.
The flowers were absolutely gorgeous. They were such simple color palates, but again, they fit the scenery. Some of the arrangements featured feathers, and the centerpieces were in wooden vases. I loved the color scheme of the cocktail table linens!
I didn't get a good picture of her dress (Amsale) or her bridesmaids' dresses (J. Crew) but here they are.

Congrats to Katie and Crisp! They seem so happy and made for each other!
Sunday morning, the guys that stayed at the lake went turkey hunting in the rain. Guess it paid off!
(I don't know anything about turkey hunting, but this is a good turkey, so they say. This turkey had 1 1/2" spurs, and 11 1/2 inch beard, and weighed 24 pounds.)
